The Craft
Meet the Craftsman behind the blade
Meet the Craftsman behind the blade
For 38 years, our family has called the Snoqualmie Valley home. Many of you might remember us as the owners and operators of The Reef and Gordy’s Steak & BBQ. After more than 50 years of experience in professional kitchens on both land and sea, I know exactly how vital a sharp knife is. Over the decades, I’ve sharpened thousands of blades using everything from 3-sided oil stones to belt grinders.
Today, I bring that lifetime of expertise to your kitchen. Using the professional Tormek T-8 low-RPM water-cooled wheel, I guarantee a consistent, precisely measured edge every single time. I treat every blade like it’s my own because a sharp knife doesn't just make prep work enjoyable—it keeps you safe.

FAQs
Why is water-cooled sharpening better than dry grinding?
1
High-speed dry grinders generate intense friction heat, which can instantly ruin the temper (hardness) of your knife's steel. The Tormek T-8 system uses a continuous water bath to keep the blade completely cool, ensuring your knife stays structurally strong and holds its edge much longer.
Do I need to make an appointment before dropping off my tools?
2
Because we operate out of a private workshop, we ask that you please call or text us ahead of time at 425-444-9390. We will provide you with our exact location, drop-off instructions, and a current estimated turnaround time.
Can you fix chipped blades or tips?
3
Yes. We offer blade repair and rust removal services. Minor nicks are usually corrected during our standard precision sharpening process, but larger chips or broken tips can be reshaped for an additional $5 to $15 depending on the condition.
How often should I get my kitchen knives sharpened?
4
For the average home cook, professional sharpening is recommended every 6 to 12 months, depending on how often they are used and how they are stored.
